Burga und Louis are very helpful by choosing and booking a restaurant.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2"><strong>"Oudtshoorn"</strong> is situated in a very dry valley surrounded by mountains and was named after the Baroness Gesina van Reede van Oudtshoorn. It is the most important town in the Klein Karoo and is still to this day world center of ostrichfarming. Oudtshoorn was founded in 1847, and has about 50.000 residents today. Before the 1. World War, over 750.000 ostriches were in the area .</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2">In those days, especially the Ladies, it was very popular to decorate hats, coats and dresses with ostrich feathers. The ostrich farmers made a fortune with selling feathers all over the world. The viktorian inspired Villas, the so-called "Featherpalasts" from this aera are still to be seen and admired. During this "boom" many jewish immigrants came to Oudtshoorn and called the town then also "Little Jerusalem".</font></p> <p align="left"><font size="2">After the Ostrich Business stagnated for decades, it´s slowly coming back, because ostrich meat is nearly cholesterin- and fettfree and in the meantime also on the menus of delcatess restaurants all over the world.
